In her book The Willpower Instinct, Stanford University psychologist Dr. Kelly McGonigal, who has one of the most popular classes in Stanford history, tells us that making a resolution or affirmation makes us feel good at the moment, but creates an unrealistic or optimistic expectation of the future. It creates a kind of satisfaction or relaxation that does not allow us to have a realistic idea of the present and the future. They actually make us far less motivated to get back on track and reach our goals. When we fail to reach our goals we can feel guilty or frustrated. The harder we are on ourselves, the harder it is for us to be successful. It sets us up for a bigger fail.
Heather Barry Kapps and Gabriele Oettingen, conducting research out of New York University and the University of Hamburg, also found that positive thinking resulted in less energy and poor achievement. The reason cited for the poor achievement of generated positive thinking, “… [positive thinking] does not generate enough energy to pursue the desired future.” But they didn’t stop there. Oettingen had her subjects think about the realistic obstacles to achieving their goals. In essence, the test subjects injected a healthy dose of reality to balance the pie-in-the- sky positivity. In positive thinking parlance, this reality is considered negativity. What was the result? Oettingen’s subjects who included possible obstacles to reaching their goals outperformed those participants who only focused on the possible positive outcome.
Negativity is a reality. Negativity has value. It does no good to deny its existence or try to neutralize its impact by playing the law-of-attraction game. Those who try to neutralize negativity not only find it a drain on spontaneous living but find it necessary to generate copious amounts of energy to maintain a mood of success in the face of continual failure. You will see a forced and frozen smile on their face and fear in their eyes. They know the force of evolution is working against them but don’t know how to stop it. They don’t know they shouldn’t try. It’s like trying to maintain the integrity of your sand castle when the tide is coming in.

First of all I want to say awesome blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to
ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your head before writing.
I’ve had a tough time clearing my mind in getting my
thoughts out there. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems
like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually wasted just trying
to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips?
Cheers!

Sorry I didn’t reply earlier. I have got a severe illness which I had to prioritize.
I have read Eufeeling several times and the new book twice.
See if I got this right. If you want for instance a red sports car, as you mention, in Law of attraction you have your desire and it will be build for you out of the blue but with QE Intention the particular car you want already exist but you haven’t been aware of it yet. I’m I right? If so, what about Perfect health? My desire is to have a perfect health but I am perfectly aware of that is not the case at the moment.

I understand your confusion and maybe this can help…
[I will make some statements here that will take too much space to show my thinking. You can get a complete understanding of QE Intention in my book Eufeeling!. https://kinslowsystem.com/product/when-nothing-works-try-doing-nothing-plus-free-bonus-video/ ]
QE Intention is actually the opposite of conventional intention work including the law of attraction. With conventional intention work you have a desire, you do the intention work, and if everything goes right you get the thing you want and your desire is fulfilled. Unfortunately, even if you get the thing you desire your satisfaction soon fades and is replaced by another desire for a bigger and better something. These smaller desires are fear driven and ego oriented. Satisfying them never leads to inner peace and contentment. Quite the opposite, they increase discontentment and eventually have us asking ourselves, “Is this all there is to life!?”
QE Intention turns this whole business of fulfilling a desire upside down. The first thing that happens when we do a QE Intention is that the desire is fulfilled immediately, before we get the object of our desire! We first satisfy our most basic desire which also satisfies the specific desire we have for something like more money, more meaningful relationships, a better job, etc. Not only that, a QE Intention desire is fulfilled completely without effort. Once the desire is fulfilled our ability to get what we want is increased many times over. In actuality, when we do a QE Intention we usually get much more than we desire and in a way that may not seem probable or even possible. It really is quite fun and I encourage you to explore further by reading the Eufeeling! and my newest book, When Nothing Works Try Doing Nothing.

Hallo Kinslow.
I’m little bit confuse. I’m not sure I see de difference between “Law of attraction” and “QE intention”. The approach is a bit difference but both suggest that you can have what you desire, a better relationship, manifest a new car etc., by thinking of your intention and than let go. Eventually your ideal partner or car will be materialized. It’s only a matter of time when it will do so. But you write that the law of attraction is noting but a hoax. If that’s what you mean then what about QE intention? Can you see way I’m confuse.
Please help me to understand this puzzel.
Best regards
